What You Will Do

Bench Mechanic – 2nd Shift (Monday – Thursday, 4 x 10 hours, 3:30 pm–1:30 am). Under the direction of a supervisor or working leader, you will perform the following tasks:

  • Pre‑coating operations, including surface preparation, masking, and post‑coating tasks such as removing parts from fixtures, removing masking, troubleshooting, and diagnosing malfunctioning equipment.
  • Minor repairs on coating equipment, including deburring, blending, polishing, countersinking, grinding, drilling, and grit‑blast operations using hand and power tools.
  • Total preventive maintenance on applicable machines/equipment as required.
  • Inspection of parts to meet visual and dimensional requirements using micrometers, verniers, height gauges, and other fixed gauges.
  • Removal of burrs, nicks, and scratches on parts.
  • Assisting engineers and others in developing new or changed operations.
  • Providing recommendations for changing and improving operating parameters and processes.
  • Reporting any difficulties to the leader or supervisor.
  • Flexibility around shifts, overtime, training, and maintaining workflow, handling multiple significant priorities concurrently.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • 0–1 year of related experience, or a completed degree/certificate from a post‑secondary or vocational school in a related field with 0–1+ years of related experience.
  • High School diploma or GED.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience with metal finishing methods, spray coating/paint application, machining, grinding, and/or welding.
  • Experience with computerized machine operation.
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments such as feeler gauges, verniers, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic involving decimals and fractions.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions concerning work methods and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Flexibility around shifts, including overtime.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously.
