Position SummaryThe Material Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient receipt, storage, movement, and documentation of materials throughout the manufacturing facility, warehouse, and stockroom. This role supports production operations by ensuring accurate inventory control, timely material delivery, and adherence to safety standards. The position requires forklift operation and compliance with all company safety policies.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Material Handling & Inventory Control- Pull and replenish parts, raw materials, and production supplies; deliver materials to designated work areas in a timely manner.
- Load and unload trucks, pallets, and packages safely and efficiently.
- Wrap, unwrap, and repackage materials as necessary for storage or production.
- Transport materials from receiving or manufacturing areas to appropriate storage locations while preventing workflow bottlenecks.
- Accurately record inventory transactions using company systems.
- Properly label, mark, and identify materials and products.
- Maintain inventory accuracy in warehouse and line-side locations.
- Assist with resolving receiving discrepancies and related documentation issues.
- Operate forklifts and other Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) in accordance with OSHA standards and Alcom safety policies.
- Maintain clean and organized warehouse and production areas.
- Remove debris and properly handle loose or stray materials.
- Cross-train to support warehouse, stockroom, and inbound freight functions.
- Identify opportunities to improve material flow efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain high inventory accuracy.
- Minimize material damage and handling-related shortages.
- Ensure timely movement of materials from receiving to storage.
- Meet productivity standards for material movement.
- Support root cause and corrective action efforts related to material handling issues.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous warehouse or manufacturing experience required.
- Forklift certification required (or ability to obtain certification through Alcom).
- Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment preferred.
- Familiarity with inventory systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Basic math skills required.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Dependable with strong work ethic.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials consistent with warehouse operations.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to operate forklift and other warehouse equipment safely.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
