ResponsibilitiesSenior Tool and Gage Maker operates manual machines including lathes, Bridgeport-style machines, and surface grinders.
Responsibilities include:
- Read and work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, and piece samples to layout durable tools for machining or inspection.
- Perform machining processes for alterations and repairs on tools, gauges, and fixtures.
- Use basic hand tools and precision measuring equipment for complex compound angled setups.
- Setup machines safely and proficiently.
- Calibrate and fabricate tools and gauges to specifications.
- Provide written and verbal technical support to internal and external customers.
- Follow Pratt & Whitney tool-related procedures and SAP transactions.
- Maintain equipment and inventory through proper sign‑in/out, clean‑up, and maintenance procedures.
- Adhere to EHS guidelines, use proper PPE, and follow job safety analysis sheets.
- Participate in ACE initiatives for continuous improvement.
- Display flexibility around shifts, training, overtime, and competing priorities.
- Work on HAAS or TRAK milling machines or lathes (experience preferred).
Develop skills, systems, and processes critical to aerospace manufacturing. Receive on‑the‑job training with advanced technology and opportunities for advancement.
Qualifications You Must Have- High School diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of relevant experience, or 3+ years with a completed certificate or post‑secondary degree in a related field.
- 5+ years of tool & gauge making experience with a completed technical certificate or post‑secondary degree.
- Advanced shop math, algebra, trigonometry, and geometry knowledge.
- Knowledge of machinery, hand tools, and precision measuring equipment.
- Experience with silver and soft soldering.
- Experience with welding and heat‑treat applications.
- Excellent computer skills.
