Overview
Emerging Store Manager s role supervises customer service associates and designated hitters, manages the front end of the store, and makes recommendations on overall operations of the Pharmacy and Retail Store. Supports the Store Manager with the store’s operations to achieve company deliverables and may assume responsibilities in the Store Manager’s absence. Ensures proper merchandising, protection of store assets, and improvements in store sales and profitability.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage store team members, including recruitment, hiring, performance management, and discipline of direct reports to ensure engagement and achievement of company deliverables.
- Customer
Experience:
Engage customers and patients, greet and assist with products and services, resolve complaints promptly, answer questions, model customer service best practices, coach and train staff to improve customer service metrics, and drive loyalty. - Operations:
Supervise store operations and team members, assign daily activities, delegate tasks, manage opening/closing, scheduling, and time records; collaborate with external partners to support store operations and community outreach; use data to inform decisions and monitor impact. - Inventory and Assets:
Oversee front-end and pharmacy inventory, complete resets/revisions and price changes, analyze inventory trends, and train staff on inventory procedures; manage cash handling and bookkeeping tasks as required. - Compliance and Safety:
Ensure adherence to company policies and applicable laws/regulations (including alcohol, tobacco, fresh food, and pharmacy); maintain a safe and presentable store environment; respond to emergencies as needed. - Performance and Communication:
Leverage feedback from Store Manager and District Manager to guide team; communicate effectively with team members and plan store strategy.
- Analyze financial and performance data; develop action plans to achieve business deliverables; use operating statements and KPIs to drive store improvements.
- Identify sales opportunities and support growth initiatives in collaboration with the Store Manager and Center leadership.
- Support Pharmacy during busy periods, including serving as a pharmacy technician when necessary.
- Lead and train team members; provide coaching and development; manage performance, including discipline and, when appropriate, termination recommendations.
- Develop talent, build staffing pipelines, and ensure a diverse candidate slate; plan for short- and long-term staffing needs; participate in hiring decisions.
- Ensure proper procedures for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training in line with company policy and laws; establish an accountability culture with clear expectations and performance management plans.
- Complete Store Manager learning and development programs and required training; monitor personal performance and maintain an Individual Development Plan; obtain and maintain required licenses (e.g., pharmacy technician) as applicable.
- Maintain regular communication with team through one-on-one discussions and group meetings; respond to questions or concerns; assist Store Manager in planning and communicating company/store strategy.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; or completed Walgreens Community Internship Program or High School Diploma/GED with two years in a supervisory role; direct reports not required.
- Demonstrated leadership, ethics, self-motivation, strong communication, and business acumen.
- Completion of Store Manager training (LEAP) or willingness to complete Walgreens Leadership Essentials (for ESM hires after June 1, 2021) within 12 weeks of start date.
- English fluency (reading, writing, speaking).
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including extended days, evenings, and weekends; willingness to relocate if promoted to Store Manager; ability to transfer to other Walgreens assets within the same area.
- Bachelor’s Degree; internal candidates: management experience across front-end and pharmacy; external candidates: business majors with retail or food industry experience.

This information is provided to promote pay transparency and equal employment opportunities current salary range for this position is $45,000 - $71,550. The actual salary offered will depend on geography, skills, education, experience, and other factors. This role will remain open until filled.
