Location: Union

Northeast Transport Inc based in Waldoboro, ME with an office in Bangor, ME is in search of a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for its fast-growing medium-sized transportation company that will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, strategy, and risk management to ensure profitability in a high-volume, capital-intensive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Strategy & Planning:Develop and execute financial strategies that support growth, such as fleet expansion or warehouse investments.
  • Monthly review of profit and loss analysis with executive management.
  • Cost Management & Analysis:Work in conjunction with Operations Director to monitor operational KPIs, including cost-per-mile, route profitability, driver performance, and equipment ROI.
  • Capital & Treasury Management:Manage cash flow, working capital, and secure financing for equipment (trucks, trailers, etc.).
  • Budgeting & Forecasting:Oversee operating and capital budgets, ensuring accuracy in forecasting amidst volatile factors like fuel prices.
  • Technology & Reporting:Implement financial systems integrated with fleet management tools to enhance tracking and reporting accuracy.
  • Leadership:Lead, build, and mentor internal finance and accounting teams.
Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience:Proven experience as a CFO or VP of Finance.
  • Education:Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or Business; CPA or MBA is highly preferred.
  • Industry Knowledge:Familiarity with transportation-specific software (telematics, dispatch, ERP) preferred.
  • Soft Skills:Strong leadership, negotiation skills (for insurance/vendors), and the ability to work under pressure.
Medium-Fleet Specific Focus

In a medium-sized fleet (e.g., 50–500 vehicles), the CFO is often a hands-on partner with the ownership/President, requiring a mix of strategic planning and day-to-day operational oversight to optimize cash flow.
