Position OverviewThe Maintenance II position is responsible for performing skilled maintenance, repair, and custodial duties across all Wiscasset School District facilities serving Pre‑K through Grade 12. This position ensures that school buildings, grounds, and equipment are maintained in safe, clean, and efficient operating condition to support a positive learning environment for students and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintenance and Repair- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment
- Conduct repairs to walls, floors, ceilings, doors, windows, and other building components
- Maintain and repair furniture, fixtures, and equipment throughout district facilities
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations
- Perform minor carpentry, painting, and masonry work as needed
- Maintain outdoor facilities including grounds, walkways, parking areas, and athletic fields
- Operate and maintain maintenance equipment and power tools safely and efficiently
- Identify and report safety hazards and take corrective action when appropriate
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations
- Assist with snow removal and winter maintenance activities
- Support emergency preparedness and response procedures
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment service
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities
- Collaborate with other maintenance staff to complete projects efficiently
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Director
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Two years of experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or related field
- Knowledge of building systems, maintenance procedures, and repair techniques
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform manual labor
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Technical certification/experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related trade
- Experience working in an educational facility
- CDL
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing
- Ability to work at heights using ladders and scaffolding
- Exposure to various weather conditions when working outdoors
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly
- Manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment
- Ability to work in confined spaces when necessary
- Work performed in various indoor and outdoor settings across multiple school buildings
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and maintenance materials
- May require evening or weekend work for special projects or emergencies
