Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, provide medical secretarial and clerical support services. Utilize knowledge of medical terminology to transcribe and prepare patient medical information, manuscripts, medical reports, abstracts and other materials as needed. Type a variety of materials from rough draft, some of which may be confidential in nature, and route completed materials to appropriate individuals.
Schedule and arrange patient consultations, schedule appointments with ancillary hospital departments for patient testing as needed, and generate a daily list of inpatients for assigned physician(s).
Communicate regularly with all levels of medical staff, patients, hospital personnel as well as Wayne State University Medical School, outside agencies and the public in order to obtain and dispense information, coordinate activities, etc. Maintain calendar, schedule meetings, lectures, interviews and appointments, and complete travel arrangements for assigned physician(s).
Answer and screen phone calls, greet and direct visitors, open/prioritize/distribute mail, prepare requisitions and other expense documents, and operate standard office equipment including fax machine, photocopier, etc.
