Position: Elementary Speech and Language Pathologist - 5 days/week
Location: Oakland

RSU 18 has an immediate need for a Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our PreK‑5th grade team. This position is currently serving students at Atwood Primary School and Williams Elementary School and is focused on providing comprehensive speech and language services to elementary‑aged students with communication needs.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Speech‑Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders from an ASHA‑accredited program.
  • Current Maine State Licensure in Speech‑Language Pathology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech‑Language Pathology (CCC‑SLP) from ASHA preferred.
  • State of Maine Department of Education background check (CHRC) authorization.
Description
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of speech, language, and total communication needs for elementary‑aged students, including standardized assessments, observations, and informal measures.
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) with measurable goals and objectives based on assessment results and student needs.
  • Provide direct therapy services to students with a range of communication disorders, including articulation, phonology, language (receptive and expressive), fluency, voice, and social communication.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date student records, including evaluation reports, IEPs, progress notes, and data collection.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and other school‑based meetings as required.
  • Stay current with best practices and research in the field of speech‑language pathology.
  • Adhere to all ethical and professional standards of the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association (ASHA) and state licensure requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education or Principal.
