Job Details: The AHU Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for scheduling procedures in the department. The scheduler works collaboratively with the Administrative Manager, Shift Coordinator, Nurse Practitioner, Charge Nurses, unit staff, physicians, the physician’s office staff and ancillary staff to efficiently and accurately schedule Almost Home Procedures. The scheduler assesses time needed for the procedure, special needs of the procedure, and special needs of the patient.
The scheduler functions as an advocate for the department and hospital. The scheduler is responsible for answering the phone, responding to faxes, and printing the schedules at the designated times. The Almost Home Scheduler must exhibit excellent customer service and communication skills. The Scheduling Coordinator additionally delivers occasional basic patient care. Provides comfort measures, maintains a safe patient care environment, and reports patient responses to nursing interventions.
The Scheduler is a member of the collaborative practice team and renders care in accordance with the Standards of Care and Standards of Practice. It is essential that all nursing tasks performed by unlicensed assistive personnel be done under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The delegating nurse retains accountability for the delegation and the outcome of the task. (Ohio Revised Code—ORC, Section 4723.28)
Department Specific Job Details: The Hem/Onc Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for scheduling procedures in the department. The scheduler works collaboratively with the Nursing Leadership, Nurse Practitioner, clinical staff, physicians, the physician’s office staff and ancillary staff too efficiently and accurately schedule Hem/Onc Infusion Center appointments. The scheduler assesses time needed for the appointment special needs of the appointment, and special needs of the patient.
