Patient Care Coordinator – Float
New England Cancer Specialists is looking for a full‑time, dynamic Patient Care Coordinator – Float (PCC).
NECS is a private medical practice composed of 18 oncologists and hematologists serving the region from five separate locations in Maine and New Hampshire. The PCC serves as face‑to‑face / over the phone daily contact for patients when in clinic. They schedule and coordinate all appointments, including booking scans, labs, procedures, follow‑up visits as well as maintaining the physician's appointment schedule, completing all non‑clinical orders, managing and resolving appointment conflicts proactively, and assisting patients to ensure they have a positive and professional experience at all times.
Job Duties- Obtain records relevant to upcoming visit.
- Schedule any ordered outpatient appointments (i.e. transfusions, labs, procedures, etc.).
- Scan documents into patient charts.
- Answer multi‑line phone calls, triage calls, resolve issues and answer non‑clinical questions, redirect callers if necessary, take detailed messages and/or forward calls to appropriate persons.
- Manage and resolve appointment conflicts proactively.
- Work with outside partners to obtain prior authorizations.
- Maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines, and be able to problem‑solve.
- Demonstrate superior customer service skills and ability to be an effective team player.
- High School Diploma/GED, with two or more years of experience in a health care environment required.
- 2+ years of administrative experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong customer/patient service experience.
- Organizational and problem‑solving skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize all tasks.
- Ability to convey information both in writing and verbally. Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
- Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
- Proficient computer skills with previous experience using an electronic medical records system required.
