Serving Maine’s Midcoast communities of Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Harpswell, and Topsham, MSAD 75 is home to over 2,350 students and more than 600 faculty and staff members. We are seeking a Long‑Term Occupational Therapist Substitute to join our vibrant educational community.
Position: Long‑Term Position, February 16, 2026 - May 26, 2026
Locations: Harpswell Community School, Williams‑Cone School and Mt. Ararat Middle School
- Assessment & Evaluation:
Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations (formal and informal) to determine a student's eligibility for services and identify their functional needs in the educational environment. - IEP/504 Development:
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (teachers, parents, administrators, etc.) to develop IEPs and 504 plans, setting measurable goals related to the student's fine motor skills, visual‑motor/perceptual skills, sensory processing, and activities of daily living (ADLs). - Direct & Indirect Service:
Provide direct, individualized, and group therapy sessions, as well as indirect consultation to school staff on integrating therapeutic strategies into the classroom setting. - Documentation:
Maintain timely and accurate records, including evaluation reports, progress notes, and billing documentation, compliant with state and federal regulations. - Consultation & Training:
Offer training and support to teachers, paraprofessionals, and parents regarding the student's needs, equipment use, adaptive techniques, and sensory strategies. - Collaboration:
Participate in team meetings, professional development, and assist in designing modifications to the school environment to promote student access and success.
- Must hold a valid State of Maine Occupational Therapist License.
- Must hold a valid State of Maine Department of Education background check (CHRC) authorization.
- Provide consultation and direct occupational therapy in District schools.
- Proven ability to function as a contributing member of a team.
