Finance Clerk - Johns Bay Coastal Alliance Education Service Center
The newly formed Johns Bay Coastal Alliance Education Service Center is seeking a Finance Clerk. The JBCA ESC is the central office unit that will administer the Bristol Consolidated School and its neighbor, the South Bristol School (both are Pre-K - 8th grade schools) beginning on July 1, 2026. The Finance Clerk reports to the Executive Director and supports the efficient, accurate, and compliant financial operations of the Johns Bay Coastal Alliance by performing essential accounting, payroll, benefits, and data‑management functions.
The Finance Clerk ensures timely processing of payables, receivables, payroll, and financial records while maintaining strong internal controls and excellent customer service to member districts and staff.
Located in stunning Midcoast Maine, the JBCA community is located on the Pemaquid Peninsula, bounded by Muscongus Bay to the east, and the Damariscotta River to the west. The community includes four distinct working waterfronts, miles of hiking trails, and excellent opportunities for boaters and other outdoor enthusiasts.
This position (as well as the ESC) officially begins on July 1, 2026, but there will be several weeks of compensated preparatory work beginning in February. The salary range for this position is regionally competitive and dependent upon qualifications and experience. Desired Qualifications- Degree in Accounting or related field, or a minimum of five (5) years of financial administration or payroll experience.
- Understanding of bookkeeping methods and accounting principles.
- Proficiency with financial software, spreadsheets, and word processing applications.
- Demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to support multiple people in a collaborative environment.
- Knowledge of public‑sector payroll, benefits, or school finance preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity in all financial and personnel matters.
- Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Executive Director may deem appropriate.
