Sustaining Engineer - Telescopics

Provide product life cycle support to the telescopic seating product line, including limited scope product enhancement and development. This role requires advanced problem‑solving skills and the ability to work cross‑functionally as well as with external suppliers and customers.

• Life cycle manage telescopic seating line products through maintenance, enhancement, and value engineering initiatives
• Responsible for Engineering Changes (ECs) related to the telescopic seating product line
• Responsible for the development and maintenance of design documentation, drawings, BOM’s, test data, technical manuals, and all other related technical product documentation
• Lead product and labor cost reduction initiatives in support of annual corporate cost reduction goals
• Provide technical field support related to use, performance, quality and safety of telescopic seating products. Work closely with Quality and Customer Service to develop Cause and Corrective Action plans for product related quality issues
• Work with Procurement team and vendor base to resolve product and material sourcing issues
• Design and develop product line enhancements / new product line extensions from concept through production release
• Conduct analysis, calculations, testing, etc. to ensure designs meet performance requirements
• Support broader team as a technical reviewer and participate in problem solving, planning, strategy, etc. events

• Superior ability to achieve anticipated results in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to plan, prioritize, make commitments, and manage several concurrent projects through to completion on schedule
• Can perform structural and stress analysis using hand calculations, spreadsheet tools and/or FEA.
• Basic understanding of metal forming/joining, casting, machining, and molding/extruding plastics processes. Design and manufacturing knowledge of wood components and soft goods is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment
• Builds consensus with teammates by considering input and promoting trust between team members
• Constructively challenges established practices to develop creative solutions or improve processes
• Can readily adapt to changing scope and priorities

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related degree. PE license or desire to achieve is a plus
• 2 to 10 years’ experience in a related field preferred
• 3D modeling experience – mid to high level capability. Experience with AutoCAD Inventor is a plus
• Prior structural design experience is a plus
• Experience using rapid prototyping processes and product testing
  
  Experience with ERP and PLM systems
• Proficient with MS Office suite
• Occasional, short duration travel is required
