Senior/Lead Transmission Line Engineer – Dashiell Corporation

Job Title: Senior/Lead Transmission Line Engineer
Dashiell is a leading national provider of technical services to the electric utility, power generation, industrial, renewable, and energy industries. We specialize in planning, design, construction, and maintenance of medium‑ and high‑voltage electrical infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities- Develop, review, and track civil, structural, and electrical design documents for substation and transmission projects.
- Create engineered plans and specifications.
- Perform and verify engineering calculations including ground grid design, relay coordination, transformer sizing, load flow, short‑circuit analysis, grading, drainage, foundation design, structural loading, wind, and seismic analysis.
- Apply engineering application software such as AutoCAD, Micro Station, PLS‑CADD, STAAD Pro, RISA 3D, or equivalent.
- Ensure design compliance with all applicable standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI, AISC, ACI, ASCE, IBC, ASTM).
- Manage project scope, schedule, and budget to meet quality and profitability objectives.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams including engineers, designers, and drafters.
- Serve as primary technical contact for clients and vendors.
- Prepare and coordinate project schedules, budgets, and reports.
- Participate in site visits, coordination meetings, and customer presentations.
- Ensure proper document control and adherence to Dashiell’s QA/QC procedures.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
- Licensed professional engineer with over 15 years of experience in the industry.
- Extensive knowledge of high‑voltage (138kV and above) systems, substation equipment, and transmission components.
- Strong understanding of AC/DC fundamentals, three‑phase systems, and power flow.
- Proficiency with engineering and project management software.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership abilities.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead multiple projects and teams concurrently.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Minimal physical effort; primarily office based.
- Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds).
- Occasional travel for meetings, training, or site visits (~10%).
- Extended hours, including weekends, may be periodically required.
Compensation Range: $120,000 – $215,000 yearly. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year‑end incentive bonus program.
