Overview

MSAD #31 VACANCY for the School Year 2026/2027 at Hichborn Middle School / Penobscot Valley High School. Position:
Guidance Counselor.

The counselor position will be shared between the middle school and the high school and is responsible for organizing and establishing the master schedule. Interested candidates should hold a valid Maine Teaching certificate with a 075 endorsement.

• Support college and career exploration and use education software.
• Participate in IEP and 504 meetings and assist in establishing priorities.
• Organize and contribute to the master schedule in coordination with both schools.
• Communicate effectively, apply standards-based learning and proficiency-based assessment, and support differentiated instructional practices.
• Maintain effective classroom management and demonstrate self-initiative, a growth mindset, and a collaborative work approach.

• Valid Maine Teaching certificate with a 075 endorsement.
• Experience in college and career exploration, education software, IEP and 504 meetings, and establishing priorities.
• Knowledge of current Maine standards, standards-based learning, proficiency-based assessment, and differentiated instructional practices.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills; ability to work across two school buildings.
