About Camden Rockport Elementary SchoolCamden Rockport Elementary School, nestled in a spacious setting with woods and fields adjacent to the high school, serves approximately 315 students in grades PreK-4 from the towns of Camden and Rockport. CRES uses a responsive classroom structure, has a robust system of supports for students, and features the first nature-based public PreK in the state of Maine.
Position SummaryWe are seeking a dynamic, highly organized professional to serve in a dual role as a half-time PreK Special Education Teacher and half-time PreK Coordinator as we move to Universal PreK. In the teaching role, the successful candidate will deliver developmentally appropriate instruction to young children with disabilities, incorporating a nature-based approach that views the outdoor environment as an essential classroom and supports early literacy, numeracy, communication, and social-emotional development.
In the coordinator role, this individual will provide oversight and administration of our developing PreK program, including ensuring compliance with Chapter 124 and MUSER requirements while fostering strong collaboration among families, special and regular educators, service providers, and administrators. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills, self‑motivation, flexibility, and the ability to build positive, collaborative relationships within a growing early childhood program.
- Develop and implement developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with IEP goals
- Deliver evidence‑based early childhood special education services using a nature‑based approach
- Support growth in pre‑literacy, numeracy, communication, and social‑emotional skills
- Monitor student progress and maintain compliant documentation
- Collaborate with families, related service providers, and school staff
- Oversee daily operations of the PreK program
- Coordinate and communicate as needed with the Building Administrator
- Serve as liaison between families, staff, and administration
- Facilitate IEP meetings and ensure regulatory compliance
- Oversee Child Find process
- Coordinate screenings, transitions, and related services
- Other duties as assigned by the Director and/or Building Administrator
- Background check, including fingerprinting
- Maine Department of Education Teacher Certification with Teacher of Children With Disabilities 282 (Birth to age
5) endorsement required - Program management experience
- Pay starts at $52,686 per year with possibility of increase based on experience, within the parameters of the applicable contract
