Location: Paris

The Oxford Hills School District is seeking excellent candidates for the position of Functional Life Skills Teacher at The Paris Elementary School grades 4-6 in South Paris, ME.

Paris Elementary School is located in South Paris and serves approximately 400 students in grades PreK-6. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with their colleagues to encourage, inspire, and support the learning process for all students.

This teacher would join a fabulous team to work with students in a self-contained life skills setting. Student disabilities could include , Autism, and OHI. Focus is on functional academics, ADL, communication, participation in inclusive classes, and other individual needs. Grade level would vary, but expected to include primary grades.

Candidates must hold a valid Maine certification 282 or the ability to obtain one with appropriate endorsement(s).

Work Schedule:

180 days

Salary: $45,000.00 - $79,539.70* (SY25/26)

MSAD #17 offers a robust employee benefits package for full-time employees, including: health insurance with 80% of the premium paid by the employer (with up to 100% if both spouses work in the district); dental, vision, Group Life Insurance; flexible spending and dependent care accounts;
Maine Public Employee Pension, 403(b) retirement plan eligibility; 15 paid sick days per year; and tuition reimbursement.

  • In addition to the base salaries above, Special Education positions receive the following annual supplemental stipends:
  • Day Treatment Teachers - $4,500
  • Functional Life Skills Teachers - $4,400
  • Social Skills Teachers - $3,400
  • Resource Room Teachers - $2,000
  • Social Workers - $4,450
  • Applied Academics Teachers - $4,000

OXFORD HILLS REGION

The Oxford Hills School District (MSAD 17) comprises the towns of Norway, South Paris, West Paris, Oxford, Waterford, Harrison, Hebron and Otisfield. MSAD 17 shares vocational resources and accepts students in its Oxford Hills Technical School programs from the RSU
10 School District towns of Buckfield, Hartford and Sumner. Oxford Hills/Nezinscot Adult Education is located within the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.

The Oxford Hills offer a variety of outdoor resources for anyone wishing to enjoy the region, whatever the season. The area boasts more than ten lakes and ponds for outdoor recreation, a land trust with hundreds of acres for skiing, snowshoeing, and is in close proximity to several downhill skiing areas!
