Blue Hill Consolidated School is seeking a dynamic, student‑centered Art Teacher to join our PK–8 learning community for the 2026-27 school year. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about fostering creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression while building positive relationships with students across developmental levels.
Position OverviewThe Art Teacher will provide comprehensive visual arts instruction to students in grades PK–8. The ideal candidate will create an engaging environment that encourages exploration, skill development, and creative confidence while supporting our school‑wide commitment to community, collaboration, and high expectations for all learners.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement a standards‑based PK–8 visual arts curriculum
- Teach foundational art skills, techniques, art history, and creative problem‑solving
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
- Integrate art with other subject areas when appropriate
- Organize and display student artwork throughout the school and community
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and administration
- Collaborate with the Gifted & Talented teacher to plan and coordinate three annual art enrichment field trips for students identified in the visual arts
- Participate in school events, exhibitions, and family engagement opportunities
- Maine DOE certification (or eligibility) in Art (K–12)
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Experience working with elementary and middle school students preferred
- Ability to build strong relationships with students and families
- Commitment to collaboration and continuous professional growth
