Welcome to Maine School Administrative District #75 (MSAD 75)
Serving Maine’s Midcoast communities of Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Harpswell, and Topsham, MSAD 75 is home to over 2,350 students and more than 600 faculty and staff members.
MSAD 75 is seeking a Early Childhood Special Education Itinerant Paraprofessional to join our vibrant educational community. Together, we can inspire the next generation of learners and leaders.
Location: Various community settings (including district elementary schools and community childcare and preschool settings)
Supervision: Works under the direction of Early Childhood Special Education Coordinator to provide Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) and support to preschool‑aged children with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to help them meet developmental milestones in inclusive settings.
Pay: $22.66–$25.12 hourly
Essential Functions- Direct Instruction:
Implement pre‑planned lesson plans and interventions focusing on social‑emotional, communication, motor, and cognitive goals as outlined in each student's IEP. - Itinerant Support:
Travel between multiple sites (daycares, preschools, etc.) to provide 1:1 or small group support within the child’s daily routine. - Data Collection:
Monitor and document progress on IEP goals with high accuracy to inform the IEP team and support quarterly progress reports. - Collaboration:
Act as a liaison between the special education team and the staff at the child's host site (e.g., helping a daycare teacher implement modifications). - Behavioral Support:
Implement Positive Behavioral Support Plans (PBSP) and use de‑escalation strategies as needed for the developmental age of the child. - Personal Care:
Assist with personal care needs (toileting, feeding, mobility) if required by the student's IEP.
- Valid State of Maine Department of Education Educational Technician I, II or III Certification
- Valid State of Maine Department of Education background check (CHRC) authorization.
- Strong behavioral management skills with ability to consistently support student behavior plans.
- Demonstrated record keeping skills.
- Proven ability to function as a team member.
- Must be physically capable of lifting up to 50+ lbs.
- Standing/Walking: 6–8 hours
- Sitting: 3–5 hours
- Lifting/Carrying: 3–5 hours, up to 50 pounds
- Pushing/Pulling/Sliding: 1–2 hours
- Climbing Up & Down Stairs: 1–2 hours
- Reaching Overhead: 1–2 hours
- Bending/Twisting: 3–5 hours
- Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: 1–2 hours
- Hands/Arms/Finger Dexterity/Hand Gripping: 6–8 hours
