Among the most prestigious, well‑respected camps in the country, is seeking a qualified Cross Country Coach and Counselor for the summer of 2026. We offer quality instruction designed to allow children to participate in activities they love, while also providing opportunities to explore new interests. Your primary goal is to create a positive and supportive learning environment that fosters skill development, teamwork, and a love for the sport of cross country.
Responsibilities- Incorporate fundamental cross country techniques, running form, pacing, and strategies into daily activities.
- Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment for all campers.
- Assess the skill levels of campers and provide individualized instruction to help them improve their running abilities.
- Focus on developing proper running mechanics, endurance, pacing, and course navigation skills.
- Design and lead engaging training sessions, including warm-ups, drills, distance runs, and cool‑downs.
- Educate campers on proper hydration, nutrition, and injury prevention specific to running.
- Ensure a safe running environment, including checking routes for potential hazards and planning appropriate distances.
- Monitor campers' physical well‑being during training, ensuring appropriate rest, hydration, and attention to any signs of fatigue or discomfort.
- Promote teamwork and sportsmanship among campers through group runs, relays, and encouraging mutual support.
- Encourage a positive and supportive atmosphere where campers respect each other and their coaches.
- Be flexible and adaptable to accommodate campers with varying skill levels and learning styles.
- Adjust training plans as needed based on camper feedback, progress, and weather conditions.
- Previous coaching experience, especially in cross country or distance running, preferred.
- Knowledge of cross country fundamentals, training principles, and race strategies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with campers of different ages and skill levels.
- Current certification in First Aid/CPR is a plus.
Duration:
We are looking for a two‑month commitment from June 16th - August 17th. We offer room and board for the duration of employment erested applicants, please send a cover letter detailing your interest in working with children, along with your resume. We look forward to hearing from you!
