Job Overview
The Program Director ensures that the purpose and value of the UMaine 4-H Centers at Bryant Pond and Greenland Point are realized through the development and implementation of programs that support the mission of 4-H and UMaine Cooperative Extension. This position is expected to serve as a role model for staff by maintaining a high degree of professionalism, exhibiting exemplary leadership and teaching skills, and skilled supervision.
In addition this position will serve as Director on Duty and be responsible for risk management (program and facility) during specific program offerings.
The salary range for this full‑time, soft‑money funded positions is $51,183 to $55,000 a year.

Qualifications RequiredThese are required knowledge and skills so be sure that you demonstrate how you meet each one in your resume or cover letter.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of five to seven years of significant work experience in camp/outdoor education or youth development program leadership
- Certifications and instructor qualifications in Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife recreation safety programs
- Successful supervisory experience
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage educational program budgets
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience with marketing using print and electronic media
- Wilderness First Responder Certification
- CPR Certification
- Maine driver’s license and be eligible to be authorized and approved as a university driver based on the Driver Administration Policy.
These are preferred knowledge and skills we are looking for but do not exclude you from the job if you don’t have this experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in outdoor education, or related field
- Seven to Ten years of significant work experience in camp/outdoor education program leadership
