Overview
We are seeking an experienced, energetic Lead Preschool Teacher for our Head Start Classroom at our Chisholm Early Learning Center, located in Rumford, ME. This position is 40 hours, generally following a school-year calendar. Position starts August 2025.
Compensation- Pay Range: $20.76-$22.51/hour depending on education and experience
- This position is eligible for an additional monthly wage supplement through the State of Maine Early Childhood Educator Workforce Salary Supplement Program. The tiered supplements are $240, $360, or $540 monthly. Visit maine.gov/dhhs for more information.
- Lead a high-quality preschool classroom team
- Plan activities and tailor curriculum to meet children’s social, emotional, physical, literacy, and cognitive development
- Communicate with and support families in meeting their children’s and families’ needs
- Work with management to maintain Head Start Performance Standards and Licensing requirements

- Minimum of Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education required or a closely related field required
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum of three years of supervisory experience is preferred
- Minimum of five years of experience in early care and education is preferred
Successful candidates must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and motivate others; ability to function autonomously and as part of a team; considerable stamina to regularly lift, bend, carry, and perform other high-energy activities; competency with Microsoft Office; ability to obtain and maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications. Pre-employment physical, SBI, DMV, Maine Sex Offender Registry, DHHS fingerprinting, fraud, and federal debarment background checks must be completed upon offer of hire and as a condition of employment;
valid driver’s license and travel within the service area is required.
