Pollywogs Preschool is seeking a caring, reliable, and flexible Full-Time Substitute Early Childhood Educator to join our team. This position plays a vital role in maintaining consistency, quality care, and positive learning environments across classrooms when regular teaching staff are absent. The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood education, adaptable, and committed to supporting children, families, and fellow educators.

• Step into classrooms as needed to support infants, toddlers, and/or preschool-aged children
• Maintain a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment
• Follow established classroom routines, lesson plans, and Pollywogs’ policies
• Support children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff
• Maintain appropriate supervision and ensure children’s health and safety at all times
• Assist with daily care routines, including meals, toileting/diapering, and transitions
• Communicate effectively with lead teachers and administration

• Experience working with young children in a childcare or early education setting is preferred
• Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices
• Ability to adapt quickly to different classrooms and age groups
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Must meet Maine childcare licensing requirements (or be willing to obtain)
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to become certified
• Ability to pass background checks as required by licensing
