Location: Orono

This position will direct tasks associated with the planning, execution, and oversight of agricultural research and development, food production optimization, outreach, design, manufacture and test of equipment necessary to accomplish the mission of the Advanced Manufacturing. The AMC exists to provide technical manufacturing support to Maine industry, support the R&D functions of the University System and economic development efforts in the state, and educate university student interns in engineering best practices.
Typical hiring range for this soft-money funded position is $80,000 to $90,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications
  • M.S. in related Engineering field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five or more years of relevant professional experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet constant deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with industry members.
Preferred
  • Substantial experience in project management.
  • Significant experience in some of the following areas: CNC machining, machine design, engineering design, industrial hygiene, QC, metrology, 3D CAD and CAM.
  • Experience advising and directing student research.
  • Food safety experience.
  • Equipment/tractor operation experience.
