Our teachers are deeply committed to engaging in all aspects of our students’ experience, beginning in the classroom and extending to extracurricular activities and residential life.

With a start date of August 15, 2026, this position will join the Akin Learning Center team as a Learning Center Teacher. This full‑time, 10‑month teaching position will involve one‑on‑one and small group academic coaching with high‑school‑level neurodiverse learners, advising a small group of students, actively participating in the residential life program, and supervising two seasons of afternoon activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • An educator who can successfully support students within and across specific content areas as they develop study skills and grow executive‑functioning strategies.
  • Committed to developing in all Kents Hill students sophisticated problem‑solving and critical‑thinking strategies needed for success beyond secondary education.
  • Able to collaborate with classroom teachers to support positive learning strategies for neurodiverse learners, understand student strengths and challenges, and ensure classroom accommodations are understood and met.
  • Skilled and professional at maintaining contact with families and educational consultants to inform them of student progress.
  • Able to consult with the Director of Student Learning Support on the development of individual learning plans for Learning Center students.
  • Culturally competent with skills for engaging with and learning from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Passionate about the pursuit of their own personal growth through professional development.
  • Enthusiastic about contributing to a shared culture of high expectations and continuous growth—for students, colleagues, and yourself.
  • Committed to the boarding school student experience and excited to engage with students both inside and outside of the classroom. Typically, this includes:
    • Residing in campus housing and engaging in all facets of residential life.
    • Advising a group of students.
    • Involvement in afternoon and extracurricular activities.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience with teaching learning strategies and academic coaching of high‑school students.
  • Knowledge and training in learning differences and interventions.
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and external partners.
Benefits

Kents Hill School offers its teachers a comprehensive benefits package, on‑campus housing, meals in the Bibby & Harold Alfond Dining Commons for employees and their families while school is in session, and access to campus facilities and grounds, including 400 acres with a trail system, athletic facilities, and our on‑campus ski hill.
