Position: Special Education Technician II or III (Resource Room)
Location: Richmond School Department, Marica Buker Elementary School
Schedule: Full-Time (School-Year Position)
Marcia Buker is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Technician II or III to provide academic support for students receiving special education services in a resource room setting. This position focuses on implementing individualized and small-group instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals under the supervision of a certified special education teacher. A long‑term Ed Tech substitute opportunity may also be available for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities- Provide academic support and instructional reinforcement in literacy, mathematics, and other core subjects.
- Implement teacher‑designed lessons and individualized interventions in alignment with IEP goals.
- Support students in developing organizational, study, and self‑regulation skills.
- Collect data and document student progress for monitoring and reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and related service providers to support student success.
- Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that promotes student independence.
- Support behavior management strategies as outlined in student plans.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all school and district policies, as well as state and federal regulations.
- Current Maine Department of Education certification as a Special Educational Technician II or III, or eligibility to obtain.
- Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs preferred.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student‑centered learning.
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to the needs of students and the school community.
- Prior work in a special education resource room setting.
- Familiarity with literacy and math intervention strategies.
- Knowledge of IEP goals and progress monitoring.
Compensation is based on experience and the applicable contract or district pay scale. Benefits available for eligible employees.
