This position is in a self-contained classroom known as the "LEAD" program. Successful candidates must be eligible for or have a State of Maine Educational Technician certification, and an approved CRC (Criminal Records Check) through the Maine Department of Education. The candidate should currently hold or be willing to receive training from District personnel for Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) certification. The candidate should have an understanding of how to work with students who have behavioral, cognitive and developmental disabilities in the public school setting.
The candidate will be expected to collaborate, plan and implement lessons, work with small groups of students both in the special and regular education setting, implement and maintain data on positive behavior support plans and support daily life skills activities in the public school setting. This is a full-time position of 35 hours per week.
Ed Tech III starting pay with no prior experience is $20.59 per hour and increases based on experience in alignment with the collective bargaining agreement. Ed Techs who are BHP certified and working in this LEAD position will receive an additional $3 per hour.
