Join Our Team as a Teaching Assistant at Kids Peace!

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and supporting their educational and behavioral growth? Kids Peace is looking for a compassionate, dedicated, and motivated Teaching Assistant to join our team at the Kids Peace School in Old Town!

As a Teaching Assistant
, you’ll play a key role in supporting the teacher with the delivery of therapeutic service plans, instructional systems, and lesson plans for school‑age children with developmental disabilities and emotional disorders. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a supportive, team‑oriented environment where you can help make a meaningful impact in the lives of children.

What You’ll Do
  • Assist the teacher with instructional planning and lesson implementation, maintaining accurate student records, setting up activities, and supporting students as needed.
  • Support the implementation of behavior modification systems and provide crisis prevention techniques when necessary.
  • Demonstrate care, compassion, respect, and ethical behavior with students while building positive relationships and maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Communicate relevant student information to the treatment team in a timely manner to support individualized care and treatment plans.
  • Provide supervision and additional support in the classroom to ensure a safe and structured learning environment.
What We’re Looking For
  • Education:

    90+ college credits required. College degree preferred.
  • Experience:

    Some experience working with children with developmental disabilities and emotional disorders is a plus.
  • Certification:
    Must obtain and/or maintain Maine State Education Technician Certification.
  • Skills:

    Basic computer knowledge and skills required.
