Location: Rumford

We are seeking an experienced, energetic Lead Preschool Teacher for our Head Start Classroom at Chisholm Early Learning Center in Rumford, ME. This full‑time position requires 40 hours per week and follows a typical school‑year calendar, beginning August 2025.

Pay: $20.76–$22.51 per hour, depending on education and experience. The role may qualify for an additional monthly wage supplement through Maine’s Early Childhood Educator Workforce Salary Supplement Program ($240, $360, or $540 per month). For details, visit maine.gov/dhhs.

Essential Duties
  • Lead a high‑quality preschool classroom team.
  • Plan activities and tailor curriculum to support children’s social, emotional, physical, literacy, and cognitive development.
  • Communicate with and support families to meet children’s and families’ needs.
  • Work with management to maintain Head Start performance standards and licensing requirements.

Desired Qualifications
  • Minimum associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least three years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • At least five years of experience in early care and education preferred.
Other Requirements

Successful candidates must possess excellent communication skills, the ability to lead and motivate others, and function both autonomously and as part of a team. Candidates should have substantial stamina for lifting, bending, carrying, and performing other high‑energy activities, be competent with Microsoft Office, and hold current CPR and First Aid certifications. Pre‑employment background checks (SBI, DMV, Maine Sex Offender Registry, DHHS fingerprinting, fraud, and federal debarment) must be completed upon offer.

A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel within the service area are required.
