Long-Term Substitute Pre-K Teacher
Jameson Elementary School is a vibrant Pre‑K through second grade school serving 170 students. We pride ourselves on creating a nurturing environment where young learners can thrive and develop a lifelong love of learning.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Long‑Term Substitute Pre‑K teacher to join our established three‑teacher Pre‑K team from roughly the mid‑end of March through the remainder of the school year. As part of our collaborative team, you will work alongside two other Pre‑K teachers, ed techs, and special educators to deliver high‑quality early childhood education.

Certification Requirements:
- Citizenship, residency or work visa
- Maine Department of Education CHRC (Criminal History Record Check)
- Maintains or is eligible for Maine Department of Education Teaching Certificate 029 (PreK-3) or 081 (Birth to 5 years old)
- Membership with Maine Roads to Quality
Qualifications /
Job Summary:
- Establishes appropriate instructional goals and related objectives consistent with the system wide curriculum and the Maine Learning Results.
- Prepares instructional plans and materials incorporating principles of effective instruction.
- Creates, selects or modifies instructional plans and materials to accommodate learner differences.
- Provides a clear description of the learning task and its contents.
- Monitors student understanding and re‑teaches as necessary.
- Communicates oral and written information effectively.
- Fosters a classroom culture of caring and respect.
- Maintains an evaluation program of student work and participation that regularly monitors their progress in an accurate and up‑to‑date manner.
- Maintains official grade reports as prescribed by Board policy.
- Includes a variety of techniques for monitoring student progress in the evaluation program.
- Challenges students’ high‑level thinking skills as part of the evaluation program.
- Assesses whether students have met the articulated learning targets grounded in the district curriculum and Maine Learning Results.
- Analyzes assessment results to refine curriculum and teaching techniques.
- Communicates student progress based on assessment results to parents and students on a regular basis.
- Establishes and maintains appropriate learning behavior.
- Establishes a classroom climate conducive to learning.
- Uses available resources effectively.
- Improves professional skills and knowledge.
- Reflects on practice to improve student learning.
- Maintains satisfactory attendance record.
- Completes assigned tasks on schedule.
- Provides detailed plans for substitutes, aides, and other staff.
- Arrives on time for class, meetings, and other scheduled activities.
- Works and communicates effectively with all staff members.
- Adheres to student individual education plans.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on committees as required; performs other duties as assigned.
