Special Education Teacher – Endeavor Program (Middle School)
RSU 40 is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher for our Middle School Endeavor Program, an in‑district program serving students with behavioral, emotional, and academic needs. The ideal candidate is relationship‑centered, calm under pressure, and skilled in providing specialized instruction within a highly structured, trauma‑informed setting.
Responsibilities- Provide Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) aligned to IEP goals
- Implement trauma‑informed and therapeutic practices
- Collaborate with Ed Techs, Social Worker, counselors, and related service providers
- Support behavior intervention plans and crisis‑prevention systems
- Collect and use data to guide instruction
- Maintain a predictable, supportive classroom environment
- Maine DOE 282 certification (or eligibility) required
- Experience with students with behavioral/emotional needs preferred
- Knowledge of SDI, behavior supports, and de‑escalation strategies
