Superintendent of Schools - Maine School Administrative District #53

MSAD #53 seeks an outstanding, proven and dynamic leader to serve 545 students (PK‑8) in the communities of Burnham, Detroit and Pittsfield, Maine. Our high school students are tuitioned to Maine Central Institute.

• Lead with the values of our Mission and Strategic Plan – Relationships, respect, responsibility, equity and lifelong learning.
• Inspire, motivate, guide and direct staff in setting and achieving the highest standards of educational excellence.
• Have a strong working knowledge of school finance, budgeting, funding and facilities management.
• Have good organizational skills, an understanding of collective bargaining and a working knowledge of school law.
• Understand and serve in the multifaceted relationship within the school board.
• Work with staff to identify curriculum skills or learning objectives appropriate to the student body.
• Provide an environment for professional development, growth and staff development.
• Always act in the best interest of students and staff.

Out district has been approved for a new school to house grades PK‑8. A key component of this role would include liaising with the New School Building Committee and the Maine Department of Education.
