Baccalaureate Advisor – Unity Environmental University
The Opportunity: The Baccalaureate Advisor supports student success, retention, and completion by guiding students to achieve their academic and career goals. The advisor provides exceptional customer service to both active and stopped‑out students, and assists with registration, billing, financial aid, career preparation, and policy advising.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities- Retention & Completion
- Persistently engage stopped‑out students and support re‑applicants to meet academic and career goals.
- Maintain broad knowledge of university programs, policies, FERPA, SAP, financial aid, and billing.
- Accurately register students for required courses and coordinate add/drop, financial arrangements, and tuition documentation.
- Assist with career preparations and follow up with university offices to answer student questions.
- Track course participation, academic success, and academic plans through graduation.
- Provide resources and tools to help students succeed and celebrate milestones.
- Support advising and retention strategies under the direction of Assistant Deans.
- Student & Communication Management
- Use Salesforce/Stratus to record all communications and complete registration tasks and data integrity work.
- Proactively communicate via phone, texts, emails, and video meetings, addressing common questions and de‑escalating concerns.
- Respond to inquiries within one business day, with priority over term‑start weekends.
- Answer queries for all matriculated students and provide 8 PM EST coverage with team support.
- Promotion of Unity
- Meet or exceed term and annual goals.
- Improve and document processes, scripts, templates, and workflows with the DE Student Success team.
- Engage non‑traditional and adult learners with a positive, accurate approach.
- Submit timely retention activity reports and communicate challenges, successes, and failures.
- Participate in professional development and institutional events (orientations, open houses, commencements).
- Promote university enrollment initiatives and student engagement opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in customer service, sales, student advising, or support
- Excellent initiative, organizational, and time‑management skills
- Strong oral and written communication with interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and varying abilities
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and database systems
- Detail‑oriented and committed to the environmental mission of the institution
- Discretion and courtesy in a matrix organization
- Valid state driver’s license with a good driving record
- Master’s degree
- Experience with online learning platforms
- Knowledge of career services, financial aid, or registrar functions
- Familiarity with CRM and SIS systems, ideally Salesforce
- Exceptional track record in customer service, sales, or student advising
Pineland Farms, New Gloucester, Maine (half hour from Portland). The campus is easily accessible and part of a growing startup hub.
Work ScheduleWork hours include days, evenings, and weekends as required. Travel within the university system may be necessary for events or temporary assignments.
Physical DemandsTypical duties require sitting, talking, and hearing. Occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 lbs. Vision (close, distance, peripheral) and fine manual dexterity are required. Phone use for internal and external communications is essential.
