Statementof the Job
The Administrative Specialist supports the 4-H Youth Development Program in Somerset County by providing a wide range of administrative and program support services. This position works within established procedures to assist Extension staff with communications, recordkeeping, and day-to-day operations, including the use of online tools such as Word Press, Mailchimp, and social media platforms. The role plays an important part in supporting positive youth development efforts and ensuring the effective delivery of 4-H programs across the county.
This is a regular, part-time position, working 20-30 hours per week. Standard office hours are 8:00 a.m.
- 4:30 p.m.; however, the employee will establish a regular work schedule in consultation with the supervisor and adjust hours as needed to meet program needs. Salary is $19.61 an hour.

Knowledgeand Skill Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) AND transferable experience, including two years of bookkeeping/clerical/office experience.
- Experience in office settings, performing a variety of routine to non-routine clerical and administrative support responsibilities and tasks.
- Ability to communicate effectively using oral, written and electronic methods.
- Proficiency with computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, as well as Google Drive and document management software.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in an autonomous work environment as well work effectively as part of a team, and able to achieve and document measurable results.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of University of Maine Cooperative Extension and its educational programs.
- Knowledge of Zsuites and Salesforce
- Experience working with different audiences and understanding of equal opportunity, affirmative action and civil rights policies.
