Sr. Accountant

Location: Freeport

Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Freeport, Maine. This role is pivotal in managing and ensuring the accuracy of key financial functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, and reconciliations. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and a commitment to maintaining precise financial records while contributing to process improvements.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee and manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, month-end close processes, including general ledger entries and payroll.

- Ensure accurate integration of Quick Books and House Call Pro systems.

- Monitor cash flow and accounts receivable aging, actively pursuing overdue accounts to maintain healthy financial operations.

- Evaluate current accounting practices and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

- Develop and maintain detailed operating manuals for assigned areas of responsibility.

- Manage customer billing by posting payments, preparing deposits, creating invoices, and reviewing past-due accounts.

- Balance all checkbooks, manage petty cash, and prepare monthly reports.

- Handle vendor statements, ensuring invoice and packing slip matches while addressing any discrepancies.

- Create regular cash flow reports and monthly financial statements for review by management.

- Collaborate with external accounting firms to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting practices. Requirements - A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or financial management.

- Proficiency in month-end close processes, including general ledger and journal entries.

- Strong skills in account and bank reconciliation.

- Familiarity with Quick Books and integrated accounting systems.

- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

- Proven ability to evaluate and improve accounting practices.

- Effective communication skills for collaboration with team members and external partners.

- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and record-keeping.
