Homeless Resettlement Officer

An exciting opportunity to join the Homeless Pathways Team on a full‑time permanent basis. The role requires a robust knowledge of Part 7 of the Housing Act, 1996 (as amended) and experience of working with vulnerable people. You will support clients to remove barriers and secure settled accommodation.

About the Role

The position is based at the Community Hub, Trinity, Maidstone Town Centre. You will manage a main housing duty case load, work closely with Accommodation Resource Officers, and support clients through face‑to‑face housing advice. Hybrid working is available: 2 days from Trinity House and 3 days from home.

You will also cover out‑of‑hours on‑call rota covering evenings, weekends and bank holidays to provide emergency assistance on housing matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage your own case load of main housing duty cases.
  • Work with clients to identify barriers to move on, including former rent arrears, benefit cap and maximisation.
  • Demonstrate empathy in assessing clients’ housing circumstances and support needs.
  • Update personalised housing plans and provide a broad range of housing options.
  • Nominate households for private rented accommodation and direct‑let nominations for social housing.
  • Collaborate with Accommodation Resource Officers and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in the out‑of‑hours on‑call rota covering evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Knowledge of Part 7 of the Housing Act, 1996 (as amended).
  • Experience working with vulnerable or chaotic individuals and/or lived experience of homelessness.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • IT proficiency and ability to work flexible to meet service needs.
  • Full UK driving licence; ability to travel across the borough for home visits.
