Overview
The Haemato-Oncology Day Unit (HODU) is a modern 9-chair treatment facility providing high-quality care to patients with oncological and haematological conditions. Our dedicated team delivers Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT), including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted treatments, as well as a wide range of supportive therapies such as blood transfusions.
HODU treats patients throughout their treatment pathway providing individualised, compassionate and informed care. The post holder will work as part of the nursing team in supporting the unit manager to run an effective and safe unit. Applicants should be highly motivated, enthusiastic and pro-active, and you should be able to combine autonomy with team working sensitivity and professionalism.
You will be expected to adopt a holistic, pro-active and dynamic approach, being responsible for the delivery of a high standard of care and service to the patients. You will, in association with your colleagues, be required to support patients and their carers on all aspects of their care, whether newly diagnosed or being treated with palliative intent. You are required to be SACT competent to apply for this post.
Responsibilities- Support the unit manager and nursing team to run an effective and safe HODU.
- Contribute to delivering high-quality patient care across the treatment pathway, including SACT administration and related supportive therapies.
- Support patients and their carers on all aspects of their care, from diagnosis to treatment and, where appropriate, palliative care.
- Adopt a holistic, proactive, and dynamic approach to patient care and service delivery.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a patient-centred, compassionate care environment.
- Maintain competency in SACT to support the post requirements.

All successful applicants will be required to complete our corporate trust induction once a start date has been agreed.
Following your corporate induction you will be expected to attend the Trust’s 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time and will involve travel to both Trust sites. It will include supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
