An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Geologist to join a well-established infrastructure consultancy. This permanent role sits within the Infrastructure Division and plays a key part in the successful delivery of complex ground investigation projects. You will provide technical leadership, oversee field operations, and mentor a team of engineers, contributing to both project excellence and business growth.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and manage multiple ground investigation projects, ensuring delivery to programme, budget, and quality standards
- Act as Technical Manager on large-scale ground investigation projects, both on land and overwater
- Supervise in-field works, including soil and rock logging in accordance with relevant industry standards
- Oversee in-situ testing and sampling activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications
- Promote accurate data collection and recording, providing constructive feedback to team members
- Review, check, and issue factual reports, interpretative reports, and AGS data to clients
- Provide technical support to project teams and contribute to continuous improvement in delivery standards
- Mentor and support the technical and professional development of engineers and junior staff
- Strong technical knowledge of a wide range of ground investigation techniques
- Proven experience managing and supervising ground investigation projects
- Confident in providing technical leadership and guidance to multidisciplinary teams
- Experience checking reports, borehole records, and data deliverables
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and internal teams
- Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, or a related discipline
- Chartered status (or working towards) with a relevant professional body is desirable
