Lead Mechanical Engineer / Working Supervisor
Corporate Office Building – 4 Floors
Location:
Liverpool street
Hours:
40 hours per week
Standard shift: 8:00am – 5:00pm
Flexibility required between 7:00am – 7:00pm in line with site activity and wider team
Occasional out-of-hours overtime required to support PPMs
Security Requirements:
Basic DBS required & confidentiality agreement
The Role
We are recruiting for a mechanically biased Lead Engineer / Working Supervisor to take responsibility for the day-to-day maintenance operations of a 4-floor corporate office building.
This is a hands-on leadership role — ideal for a strong mechanical engineer ready to step up or an experienced lead engineer who enjoys remaining technically involved while supervising a small on-site team.
You will lead from the front, ensuring statutory compliance, high service delivery standards, and smooth coordination of contractors and reactive works.
Strong experience with commercial lighting systems and lighting controls is essential, alongside mechanical building services expertise.
Experience with BMS systems and Simtronic lighting control systems is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Operational
* Oversee and deliver all Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPMs)
* Mechanical systems maintenance including:
* Fan Coil Units (FCUs)
* TMVs
* Tap temperature checks
* POU water heaters
* Emergency lighting (EML) testing and lighting fault diagnostics
* First response to reactive works with hands-on fault finding and repair
* Ensure statutory compliance across all systems
* Support and interface with BMS and lighting control systems
* Supervision & Leadership
Direct supervision of:
* 1 x Apprentice (including structured development and training plan)
* 1 x Fabric Technician
* Allocate daily workloads and monitor performance
* Maintain high engineering and housekeeping standards
* Act as site technical lead and escalation point
* Contractor & Compliance Management
* Issue Authorities to Work (ATW)
* Manage contractor attendance and compliance
* Oversee specialist subcontractors
* Ensure all works are completed safely and to standard
About You
* Mechanically biased with strong HVAC/building services background
* Proven experience in a Lead Engineer or Supervisory capacity
* Strong knowledge of commercial lighting systems and controls
* Experience working in corporate/commercial office environments
* Confident managing contractors and junior engineers
* Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability
* Professional and client-facing
