GSL Education are currently seeking a resilient and experienced Behaviour Specialist to work within an inclusion unit at a secondary school in the Maidstone borough. This is a demanding but highly impactful role, suited to individuals with proven experience supporting students with significant behavioural challenges.

As a Behaviour Specialist, you will be working with pupils who have been removed from mainstream classrooms due to ongoing behavioural needs. These students require firm boundaries, emotional consistency, and a calm, structured approach. The successful Behaviour Specialist will be confident working in high-pressure situations, able to de-escalate behaviour effectively, and committed to building long-term, positive relationships with students. Experience in pastoral support, inclusion units, behaviour mentoring, or SEN settings will be highly beneficial.

This Behaviour Specialist role will begin with start immediately, with the intention of moving into a long-term placement . Consistency and commitment are key, as the school is looking for someone who can provide stability and continuity for the students.

Key responsibilities:

Supporting students with complex behavioural needs

Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour

Working closely with inclusion and pastoral teams

Providing consistent routines and boundaries

Acting as a positive role model within the school

Requirements:

Previous experience supporting children with challenging behaviour

Strong behaviour management and emotional resilience

Ability to remain calm under pressure

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks; including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.

If you are an experienced Behaviour Specialist looking for a long-term opportunity within the Maidstone borough, we would be keen to hear from you.
