Electrical Trainer – Career Move from the Tools
Location – Maidstone
Salary – Up to £43,500 (depending on experience)
Hours – Full-time, 35 hours per week
Looking to step away from the tools but still want to stay hands-on and pass on your knowledge? This is a great opportunity for a qualified electrician to make the move into teaching and training, no formal teaching experience needed, just solid trade experience, confidence and a genuine passion to support the next generation.
What’s the role?You’ll be delivering a mix of practical and classroom-based learning to electrical apprentices, working towards Level 2 and 3 qualifications (City & Guilds and EAL). You’ll help them build core skills and knowledge in line with industry standards, supporting them throughout their apprenticeship journey. You’ll get support and guidance as you adjust into a trainer role and if you don’t yet have a teaching qualification, you’ll be supported to work towards one.
What you’ll be doing ?- Deliver classroom and workshop training in electrical installation (Level 2 &
3) - Break down complex electrical theory into real-world, practical learning
- Support learners with coursework, assessments, and their progression
- Keep accurate records of attendance and learner progress
- Create or adapt teaching materials to keep content fresh and relevant
- Promote safety, wellbeing, and positive conduct during all sessions
- Liaise with employers and other trainers to ensure learner success
- Stay up to date with industry regulations and training standards
- Solid post-qualification experience in electrical installation or contracting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic IT literacy (emails, presentations, reports)
- Maths & English at GCSE (A–C / 9–4) or equivalent
- Willingness to work towards a teaching qualification if not already held
- Teaching or training experience
- IOSH or H&S training
- Experience supporting apprentices or junior staff on-site
