City of Magnolia, Texas Utility Clerk

The City of Magnolia is seeking a dedicated Utility Clerk to join our Utility Billing team. This full-time, non-exempt position is responsible for ensuring all customers are accurately charged for services and delivering exceptional customer service. Duties include answering phone calls, assisting walk-in customers, resolving account queries, establishing new services, disconnecting service, processing payments, maintaining a cash drawer, preparing reports, collecting bad debts, and other duties as assigned.

The Utility Clerk will also coordinate with the water/wastewater field division and garbage contractor to ensure service accuracy and support office administration tasks in a paperless environment.

  • Demonstrates outstanding customer service skills, tact, and diplomacy when interacting with customers.
  • Is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to accurately perform data entry and file management.
  • Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Works efficiently both independently and as a collaborative team member.
  • Manages multiple tasks and prioritizes responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactively checks and restocks office supplies as needed.
  • Adheres to company policies regarding data privacy and customer service.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • One year of related experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work in both independent and team settings.
