Essential DutiesUnder general supervision of the site Operations Manager, the Chemical Process Engineer will provide expertise in developing existing and new processes and projects for TETRA’s operations.
- Develop new and existing processes from concept to finished operating process.
- Develop Plant Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&).
- Produce material and energy balances for all new or existing operations.
- Use CAD programs to build or modify line drawings.
- Perform complex chemical engineering calculations and provide primary support to resolve process upsets.
- Troubleshoot process issues and provide support during startups, shutdowns, and plant turnarounds.
- Track daily production volumes and raw material utilizations.
- Collaborate with R&D, Operations, Contractors, Sales, and other related teams to understand scope and provide guidance and expertise for new and existing products.
- Lead projects by building a team and an executable scope, developing a solid cost model (OPEX and CAPEX), acquiring equipment, writing procedures and test plans, conducting start‑up and turning over the finished new or modified process to Operations management.
- Investigate and identify root causes of incidents, support removal of nuisance alarms, and develop corrective and preventative actions.
- Develop and complete Management of Change documentation.
- Communicate effectively, including writing End‑of‑Day reports and delivering solid presentations.
- Provide training to aid in developing others on process improvements.
- Work as a team player across all levels of TETRA’s organization.
- Perform other duties as defined by the Regional Manufacturing Director or Plant Manager.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering required.
- Experience: 2‑5 years of active process/project experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Travel: 10%.

- Ability to serve on an Emergency Response Team such as fire brigade, HAZMAT, rescue, and/or first responder.
- Completion of pre‑employment background, medical, alcohol, and drug screening.
- Valid Driver’s License.
While performing the duties of any field‑based position, employees may be exposed to various outside weather conditions including rain, humidity, snow, and/or heat during daytime or nighttime hours. Noise levels in this work environment are usually moderate to loud for extended periods of time.
