Position: Non Destructive Test (NDT) Tech 3/4 - R10209101

Overview

Non Destructive Test (NDT) Tech 3/4 position at Northrop Grumman. This role primarily performs non-destructive testing (NDT) radiographic inspections (RT) on composite rocket motors, and inspects composite materials, parts, and assemblies for defects using automated and manual radiographic methods. Certifications in RT NDT are required, with additional in-house inspections using UT, PT, MT, and ET methods in varying locations including confined spaces.

Responsibilities
  • Perform NDT radiographic inspections (RT) on composite rocket motors and protect required documentation of results.
  • Inspect using in-house methods including ultrasonic (UT), liquid penetrant (PT), magnetic particle (MT), and eddy current (ET).
  • Work may occur in different locations including confined spaces; be willing to work rotating day and night shifts, overtime, and weekends as schedule demands.
  • Candidates must be able to interpret measurements and document results clearly and concisely; work in a team environment under mentor guidance.
Basic Qualifications
  • NDT Tech 3: 4-6 years total experience in NDT; 1+ years with documented hours as an NDT Level 2 inspector in at least two NDT methods (RT, UT, ET, PT, MT). Records required.
  • NDT Tech 4: 6-10 years total experience in NDT; 3+ years documented hours as an NDT Level 2 inspector in at least two NDT methods (RT, UT, ET, PT, MT). Records required.
Additional Basic Qualifications for both levels
  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED (education verified).
  • NAS
    410 Level 2 classroom training/experience, or equivalent, in radiographic methodology (in progress or completed).
  • Willing to work rotating day/night shifts; overtime and flexible schedules including weekends.
  • Willing to work with high-energy x-ray machines (15 MeV) and radiation environments.
  • Ability to perform moderate physical and repetitive work; lift up to 50 lbs; ability to work in heights or confined spaces if required.
  • Ability to understand and follow procedures, planning, and policies; proficiency with Microsoft Office and technical report writing.
  • Ability to conduct NDT for acceptance of parts with clear documentation; ability to work in a multi-disciplined team under mentorship.
  • Ability to interpret rulers, digital gauges and calipers; vision requirements including near vision and color vision tests.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Radiographic and Liquid Penetrant Level 2 certifications;
    Level 2 certifications in Eddy Current, Ultrasonic, and Magnetic Particle.
  • Experience with inspection/interpretation of engineering requirements and automated radiographic inspection systems.
  • Experience with handheld UT pulse-echo units and phased array equipment; experience with eddy current weld and aluminum tubing inspections.
Salary and Benefits
  • Primary Level Salary Range: $55,800.00 - $93,000.00
  • Secondary Level Salary Range: $66,300.00 - $
  • Salary is a general guideline and base offers consider scope, responsibilities, experience, education, and market conditions.
