Digital Media and Communications Assistant

MAGHERAFELT WOMEN'S GROUP LTD supports the Magherafelt Women’s Centre with digital content creation and circulation, enhancing communications and key stakeholder engagement. This role is ideal for someone with an interest in media, design, photography, or administration seeking real work experience.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the creation of digital content for social media, website updates, digital noticeboards, newsletters, parent communications, centre users and key stakeholders.
  • Support the development of the organisation's brand and key messaging.
  • Take photographs and videos where permission has been obtained to support digital content.
  • Design posters, event flyers and information sheets using basic design tools such as Canva.
  • Assist with the preparation of digital documents, parent packs and staff materials.
  • Support the Centre Assistant with programme promotion and recruitment.
  • Assist with the promotion and organisation of events such as open days and special activities.
  • Monitor incoming messages and refer queries to the appropriate staff member.
  • Ensure all communications are professional, accurate and timely, complying with organisational policies and procedures.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Some experience in digital media, communications, or administrative work.
  • Basic computer skills, including email, internet use, and word processing.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Good teamwork skills.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Willingness to learn, take direction, and follow procedures.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and follow safeguarding guidelines.
  • Basic experience in Excel.
  • Basic photography skills.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms.
  • Positive, enthusiastic, and friendly attitude.
  • Punctual and reliable.
Further Information

Job Start opportunity – working hours: standard hours up to 25 hours per week; flexible/reduced hours may be available upon approval by a Work Coach; additional hours may be offered depending on availability. The job advert may close before the advertised closing date if requested by the employer.

Location:

Magherafelt Salary: 16‑17 £ 7.55, 18‑20 £ 10.00, 21+ £12.21 per hour

Contract:

Temporary;
Weekly hours: up to 25;
Working time: variable between 7.30am and 6pm (to be agreed on appointment);
Closing date: 27/02/2026.
