We are seeking a Coffee Shop Assistant to join our team. Greet customers and take orders efficiently. Provide recommendations on menu items and answer questions about products. Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints professionally.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare specialty coffee drinks including espressos, cappuccinos, lattes, and other beverages to company standards.
  • Ensure consistency in drink quality and presentation.
  • Process cash and card payments accurately using the point-of-sale system.
  • Close the till at the end of shifts. Process refunds and exchanges when necessary.
  • Work effectively as part of a team to ensure smooth operations during busy periods.
  • Support team members during peak times.

    Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
  • Clear and clean tables, chairs, and customer areas throughout the shift.
  • Execute closing procedures including cleaning equipment, securing the premises, and preparing for the next day.
  • Stock and replenish supplies including coffee beans, milk, syrups, pastries, and retail items.
  • Maintain product displays and ensure items are properly labelled with prices and allergen information.
  • Prepare light food items such as sandwiches, salads, or pastries as required.
  • Assist with promotional activities and upselling products.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to management.
  • Follow health & safety regulations at all times.
  • Keep the workspace organised and ensure equipment is in good working order.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of all menu items, ingredients, and allergen information.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene in all food preparation and service areas.
  • Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee equipment.
  • Stay updated on coffee preparation techniques and brewing methods.
  • Handle cash register operations including opening and closing procedures.
  • Communicate clearly with colleagues about stock levels, equipment issues, and customer needs.
  • Monitor inventory levels and inform management of low stock.
  • Receive and check deliveries.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical coffee skills.
  • Enthusiasm for coffee and the hospitality industry.
