Job Description & How to Apply Below
ONE YEAR MADRID LIFESTYLE & TEFL PROGRAM
Live, Work Teaching English & Study in Spain
Canterbury English offers a unique opportunity to live, work and study in Madrid while teaching English legally in Spain. Our One Year Madrid Lifestyle & TEFL Programs are designed for people who want an international experience, professional development and a high quality of life in one of Europe’s most exciting capitals.
Your Teaching Job in Madrid
You will teach English in businesses, schools and private homes throughout Madrid. Classes are usually one-to-one or small groups, with students of all ages and levels. You’ll travel by metro or bus and enjoy Madrid’s cafés, culture and vibrant lifestyle between classes.
You will receive full guidance, training and support from our experienced TEFL trainers and staff. Our offices are located in the heart of Madrid, near Colón Square.
Who Can Apply?
You must be a native or fluent English speaker. Most applicants are over 21, but we also accept motivated candidates aged 18–21. Prior education and work experience are considered.
This program is perfect if you are:
  • A recent graduate
  • Tired of corporate life
  • An English teacher without TEFL/CELTA
  • Looking for your first job abroad
  • Retired or semi-retired
  • Working remotely and dreaming of living in Spain
If you love travel, meeting new people, learning Spanish and enjoying the Mediterranean lifestyle, this program is for you.
Why Madrid?
Madrid offers a low cost of living, excellent public transport, rich history, diverse culture and one of the best nightlife scenes in the world. It is also one of the safest capitals in Europe.
Work, Visa & Income
Canterbury English provides a One Year Student Visa, allowing non-EU citizens to work up to 30 hours per week earning approximately 18€/hour. Most students recover the program cost within the first 1–2 months.
This is possible because your visa is based on a 20-hour/week Instituto Cervantes-accredited Spanish course, included in the program.
Guaranteed Teaching Position
After completing the TEFL or Madrid Lifestyle orientation, you are hired by Canterbury English and sign a contract immediately. We also place you with over 125 partner academies, help you find private students, online work, school assistant positions, and even summer jobs.
Program Options & Cost
  • One Year Study Abroad Program with TEFL & Spanish: 2,780€
  • Madrid Lifestyle Program (for TEFL holders): 1,970€
Both include:
  • One year student visa
  • 10-month Spanish course (20 hrs/week)
  • Guaranteed teaching job
