Senior Data Engineer

The Creation Platform is at the core of Amadeus Travel Unit growth strategy. It connects partners, suppliers, customers, and travelers, with solutions, capabilities, intelligence and content enabling the travel ecosystem of the next generation. Its mission is to enable innovation to accelerate, expand business value and increase process efficiency, by sharing capabilities transversally across Amadeus business versus purely ‘vertical ‘product line approach.

The Data & AI Value team is part of the Creation Platform Unit and is composed of a mix of data scientists and data engineers. The team is responsible for enriching the platform content and facilitating the creation of intelligent applications within the Amadeus portfolio. The first remit is achieved through design and delivery of transversal data assets, which include the ti-tables framework covering Altea Data Lakehouse.

The creation of intelligent applications is boosted through dedicated incubation resources and Data Science Services where our experts are offered internally or externally, as professional services, to speed up time-to-market and reduce the initial investment. Our services can be integrated into any R&D or business team as extra workforce or lead the project until the solution is up and running.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for working with a team to deliver data products for both internal and external customers. This role involves managing large datasets by collecting, cleaning, and preparing them for use, while ensuring compliance with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and other data regulations. Proficiency in cloud technologies such as Azure, and programming languages like Java (or preferably Scala) and Python (essential).

You will collaborate closely with data scientists, data analysts, quality analysts, and business stakeholders to develop and implement features. Additionally, you will analyze specifications, define user requirements for new or upgraded data pipelines, and contribute to transversal projects.

• Define user requirements for the development of new (or upgrade of existing) data pipelines.
• Work with data scientists, data analysts, quality analysts, and our business stakeholders to develop, implement, and perfect features.

• Design technical solutions and perform feasibility studies.
• Propose viable and scalable technical solutions to Product Management and/or users for validation.
• Develop software according to Amadeus standards: stability, monitoring, automation, operability, deploy ability, implement ability.
• Model, design, and implement databases.
• Design and implement high scalability, high availability solutions dealing with high levels of parallelization.
• Optimize performances of existing data pipelines and reduce their operational costs.
• Ensure data quality, security, and governance (GDPR zones, data catalog).

• Conduct unit, package, and performance tests and ensure a level of quality in line with the Amadeus guidelines.
• Participate in the validation phase of the product cycle, fine‑tuning when necessary to finalize the product.
• Support the customer by debugging existing solutions in collaboration with Product Manager or Product Definition Analyst.

• Produce software documentation necessary for the application and issue it to the requesting departments.
