The Senior Project Engineer - Electrical role is responsible in assisting the Lead Electrical Engineer to ensure the safe and successful completion of the project on schedule, within budget and to the specified quality. Reporting to the IEC Manager, the Senior Project Engineer will ensure the effective coordination and control of Electrical Engineering Works for the Alkimos Desalination Project; through activities of technical, engineering, inspection, scheduling, planning, survey, procurement and quality control based on Alkimos standards.
TheProject
The project includes the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the plant with first production in 2028. Works include marine works and tunnels, seawater intake system, a seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant, groundwater system, drinking water storage and pump system, supported by civil, electrical and bulk earthworks.
Key accountabilities for the position:- Promote and maintain high safety and environmental standards through inspections, workshops, and permit reviews
- Manage procurement processes including RFQs, budget analysis, vendor selection, and risk evaluation
- Review and develop construction methods and workpacks, ensuring innovation and effective problem-solving
- Plan and manage project schedules, monitor progress, mitigate delays, and align milestones with team goals
- Oversee construction engineering activities including method implementation, QA monitoring, and risk management
- Apply digital engineering tools to support planning, design review, and site coordination
- Lead and manage engineering teams, set goals, monitor performance, and support wellbeing
- Ensure quality control through timely closure of Lots, NCRs, and implementation of ITPs
- Strong safety and environmental awareness, with the ability to lead inspections and risk assessments
- Proficiency in procurement, budgeting, and evaluating vendor proposals and risks
- Skilled in project scheduling, critical path analysis, and resource management
- Competence in construction engineering, QA processes, and cost forecasting
- Ability to lead teams, apply digital engineering tools, and provide technical guidance across project stages
- Proven experience in managing complex infrastructure or construction projects across multiple phases
- Strong background in safety, environmental compliance, and risk management practices
- Demonstrated ability to lead procurement, scheduling, and engineering activities effectively
- Proficiency in using digital engineering tools and systems for planning and coordination
- Relevant engineering qualifications and professional accreditation (e.g. Chartered or Registered Engineer)
