Resource Assessment Engineer (Wind & Solar) – Madrid, Spain

We are currently looking to hire two Resource Assessment Engineers, one focused on Wind and the other on Solar PV, to join our Madrid office.

Main Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will depend on your area of specialization:

Wind Resource Engineer
  • Design and execute wind measurement campaigns using met masts, LiDAR, or SoDAR.
  • Analyze and process data from measurement equipment, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Supervise subcontractors for instrumentation maintenance and data management.
  • Perform energy yield assessments, including production estimates, loss calculations, and uncertainty analysis.
  • Verify sites in accordance with IEC 61400-1 standards.
  • Design layouts (manual and automated), flow modeling, and conduct long-term production simulations.
  • Select wind turbines and assess site suitability.
  • Analyze power curve compliance and monitor performance of operational assets.
  • Engage with OEMs, participate in technical meetings, and support procurement processes.
  • Develop internal tools and improve existing methodologies.
  • Prepare technical documentation to support investment decisions.
Solar Resource Engineer
  • Provide technical and design support to optimize energy production and reduce costs for PV plants.
  • Develop and review PV plant layouts, including SLDs, equipment sizing, and system optimization.
  • Perform electrical calculations and review LV/MV systems, grounding, and protections.
  • Monitor and improve engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Assess solar resources and perform performance simulations based on site data.
  • Create tools and procedures to enhance design quality and consistency.
  • Support O&M teams with performance analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Review SCADA designs for alignment with project requirements.
  • Coordinate with equipment manufacturers and suppliers during design and procurement stages.
  • Assist in evaluating and implementing new technologies or design improvements.
What We’re Looking For

We are hiring one engineer for Wind and one for Solar PV. Here are the specific requirements for each profile:

Wind Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Physics, or similar. A Master’s in Renewable Energy is a plus.
  • 2–3 years of experience in wind resource assessment or similar roles.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Advanced knowledge of Wind Pro, WAsP, Windographer, Wind farmer, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS.
  • Experience with Meteodyn or similar CFD tools is highly valued.
  • Fluent in English (C1). Knowledge of Italian is a plus.
Solar Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in utility-scale PV plant engineering.
  • Solid understanding of PV performance metrics (e.g., PR, availability) and engineering design (DC/AC, civil works, high-voltage lines, substations).
  • Advanced user of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Q-GIS or equivalent.
  • Skilled in MS Excel and PVsyst (or equivalent simulation software).
  • Fluent in English and Spanish. Willingness to travel internationally is required.
